View this post on Instagram Happy Update from @sanctuary_farm_everlasting_car: Well, the boys made it here this evening via an incredibly sweet transporter & her mom - their first transport & they were amazing! FYI? If you can ever serve as a transporter for animals from a shelter or other situation to a sanctuary, you will save lives and be an indispensable part of the rescue world. For instance, I can't leave here for too long. As a micro Sanctuary owner, I'm a one woman show. I can provide Sanctuary but I can't go get them. Animals make it to here or any other safe haven thru the volunteer efforts of transporters - folks who give up their time to move animals from danger to Sanctuary and are vital to saving lives! It was nearly dark by the time I got each boy settled in their coop for tonight. I either used pics I already had or messed with the light function to remind you who each boy is. I got to hold and comfort each boy before settling them in & supervised their intros. I had already named the 3 shelter boys but tonight I decided on the names for the two other rescued boys - Marduk & Gilgamesh. We're still on ancient Mesopotamia names for this year and both boys seemed to fit their naming totems well. You'll learn more about them tomorrow. Also you'll be introduced to the 2 pigeons that came. 1 was from a shelter that our friend Amanda Meyers liberated over a month ago & who's been being cared for by a friend until we could get him here - a speckle who has been fattened well during his layover! The other, a very gentle, tame, ashen buff who is very young & who might need to stay inside with me, at least for a while to gain weight. 2 elderly pigeons, Zaire a white homer & Camaroon, a white King pigeon, live inside permanently now - both too old & gentle to fare well with the outdoor flock. But the fat speckle will get named, have his slave bracelets removed then be released with a pigeon brought 2 weeks ago to the flock tomorrow! . So, all are home & safe & tomorrow will be a big day of meet & greets! Whew! I'm tuckered & hungry! . View this post on Instagram Update: I was adopted by @sanctuary_farm_everlasting_car and my new name is Buddha ?? . Derwood, MD - Introducing Buddy! Buddy (ID A451683) is a very beautiful Wyandotte rooster, one of the most handsome roosters I've seen. He was owner surrendered at the shelter back in June when he was 3 months old, so being that he has spent most of his life at a shelter, he is a bit anxious around humans, so he would do best at a home where he had some hens to look after and space to forage and play. Also, his legs are a little weak as he hasn't really had the opportunity to run around or use them very much, so also be mindful of that. . Please consider opening your heart to him, and providing him a happy, no-kill, forever home he deserves! . *If you adopt him, please let Adopt a Bird Network know! . *Birds cannot be shipped, they must be adopted in person. .
