Oreo

Oreo

Happy News! Oreo was adopted! Oreo is a really handsome 7-month old rooster with beautiful eyes and a silly floppy comb. He is extra special to me because he and I are buds. You see, he was the star of the Backyard Chicken Care Workshop in Los Angeles the other week! I worked with him for a couple days prior to the workshop, to teach him an exciting trick as an opening act for the event. . During our sessions together, I quickly discovered that Oreo wasn’t quite as food motivated as I needed him to be in order to perform the particular trick I had in mind. However, Oreo was praise motivated, and was happy to show off how incredibly handsome he could look strolling through a hola hoop. He was also very well behaved at the workshop, and helped me show people how friendly and personable roosters can be! . I was a bit disappointed Oreo wasn’t adopted at the workshop, however, I am glad he wasn’t because his perfect home soon found him! The Craig family had seen the videos of Oreo on Adopt a Bird Network, and had been searching for a family-friendly rooster to add their flock of hens. The Craig family have since introduced Oreo to their ladies of the coop, and they are slowly warming up to him. Mary, a barred rock hen who had assumed the role of the head lady of the flock has started showing him the ropes of living at his new residence. Oreo is super happy and excited about his new home. The Craig family are very patient and kind, and willing to spend the time to earn Oreo’s trust as he settles into his new home. I couldn’t be happier to see that Oreo has found the perfect home, with good people who care about him. I would like to personally thank the Craig family so much for providing my sweet boy the perfect loving home!
