Brick, NJ - Marty is a Military Macaw; believed to be male. Marty is a very sweet, gentle bird who seems to prefer women, but is friendly with everyone. He would be a good family bird as he will interact with several people; not just a one person bird. He is a rambunctious boy and wants a family who will accept him for who he is. His current mom describes him as being like a kid with ADHD.
Marty is a smart boy. He like to take chains hanging in his cage and wrap them around into knots around bowl holders and cage bars. He laughs and likes to stick his head into his metal food bowl and cackle. He seems to like the echo it makes. He loves playing with toys, especially destructible toys. So you will have to be ready to have a steady stream of toys to keep him happy and busy.
Marty has a good vocabulary. He meows like a cat, says 'Are you a cat?', 'Hello' and other words.
Marty has a good appetite and eats many foods. His main diet is mash as well as seed, fruits, vegetables and table food. You will get his mom's recipe for mash.
Marty has been living in his current home for 9 years, but his mom is planning to move to Hawaii and sadly can't take him with her. She adopted Marty from a family in Ohio where his owner passed away. He shares his current home with Charles, a Blue and Gold Macaw, a Nanday conure and Congo African Grey. The birds do not interact. There are no dogs or cats in his current home, so it is unknown how he would get along with them.
Please consider opening your heart to them, and providing them a happy, no-kill, forever home they deserve!
